Horsemen Testing and Quality: What's Published, What Isn't

Horsemen's bottle carries 4 seals. Seals are a common way supplement makers signal quality, but each one has a specific, limited meaning. This page describes what each seal actually says, without reading more into it than the seal itself claims. Describing a seal honestly is different from endorsing what it might imply.

The most commonly misread seal is the FDA-registered facility roundel. It means the factory that makes Horsemen is listed in an FDA facility database, a registration requirement for most US food and supplement manufacturers. It does not mean the FDA tested, reviewed, or approved Horsemen itself. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before they go to market the way it approves drugs. We never use the phrase "FDA approved" on this site, and the label itself does not use it either.

The GMP seal is the next most specific. Good Manufacturing Practice is a real, defined set of federal rules for how supplements should be made, tested, and documented, covering things like clean equipment, staff training, and batch recordkeeping. The seal states the plant follows those rules. It is not, on its own, proof of an independent audit result, and no certificate number is printed alongside it on the label or the sales page.

It helps to know what a seal like this can and cannot replace. A seal is printed by the company selling the product, using its own art and its own wording. That does not make it false, but it does mean a seal is a self-declared claim, not a certificate issued by an outside inspector that a shopper can look up independently. The difference matters most for the two seals tied to real federal frameworks, FDA facility registration and GMP, because those two carry a specific, checkable meaning behind them even though Horsemen does not publish the lookup details.

Beyond the 4 seals, two identifiers print directly on the bottle and its box: a lot number and a certificate-of-analysis reference. Both exist to trace a specific production run, not to show you the underlying lab data.

A certificate of analysis, or CoA, is normally a lab document that lists what a batch was tested for and what the results were, such as identity confirmation for each ingredient, microbial limits, and heavy-metal screening. A reference number pointing to a CoA is not the same thing as the CoA document itself. Horsemen prints the reference number on the bottle; it does not publish the document the number points to on its public website.
